The only thing that remains is immediate sensory experience. Everything else - thoughts, memories, emotions, etc - is constructed from that. This is related to the Buddhist notion of emptiness, which goes further and says that even sensations are constructed (but I'm not there yet).

I´m trying to stay away from language like: " should", "good", "deserve", I associate them with the narratives you describe.
But what is left? At the end, the source material of any "authentic" self is material picked up from these narratives no?
